Eleanore Helen (Hekter) Kruger

August 1, 1928 — April 4, 2023

Eleanore "Elly" Helen Kruger, 94 of La Porte, IN, died on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

She was born on August 1, 1928 in Chicago, IL, to Fritz and Frida (Lichlblaw) Hekter.

Mrs. Kruger was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. John's Thrift Shop volunteer, Swanson Senior Center, Healthport, and Retired Telephone Operators Club.

Elly had retired from General Telephone Co, working in La Porte, Hobart, Valparaiso, and Portage, retiring after 26 years of service.

On June 16, 1951 in La Porte, she married James William Kruger, who passed away June 28, 1995.

Elly loved working in her flower garden, crocheting, reading, and going fishing.

One son, Raymond James, passed away July 3, 1985 while serving in the Peace Corps in Morocco Africa.  One daughter, Constance Jaye Moser, passed away January 6, 2000.

Surviving are two granddaughters, Maryellen (Scott) Naragon of South Bend and Rebecca (David) Turk of South Bend; 3 great-grandchildren, Catelyn Jaye Naragon, Conner Allen Naragon, and Bobby Steven Turk; and two brothers, Walter (Dorothy) Hekter of Sturgis, MI and Gerhard (Kathy) Hekter of Michigan City.   Two sisters, Doris Baily and Hildegard Bradfield, and two brothers, Fritz Hekter and Herbert Hekter, preceded her in death.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Private Graveside Service will be held.
