Ada Berniece Barger, 86 years old of Kingsford Heights, IN, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 in her home.
She was born December 30, 1922 in Paden, MS daughter of the late Lewis and Hattie (Strickland) Harp.
Ada married Jesse Horton on September 1, 1942, and then married Ernest Barger on February 23, 1974 in Door Village, Indiana, who preceded her in death on February 27, 1988.
She was a member of Tracy Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Ladies AID.
Ada worked for Boris Smolers, Woodcrafters, and retired as a housekeeper from La Porte Hospital.
Surviving are two daughters; Teri (Edgar) Schoof of Constantine, MI, Wanda Benninghoff Clemons of Kingsford Heights, three sons; Glen, Donald, and James Horton all of Baldwyn, MS, four grandchildren; Jeffery Schoof of La Porte, Lisa Peters of Lafayette, IN, Charles Nebelung of Kingsford Heights, and Kevin Schoof US Army stationed in Germany, eight great-grandchildren, and three sisters; Pauline Baud of La Porte, Connie Nunley and Francine Lambert of Corinth, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter; Sara Horton, and three sisters; Ora, Altie, and Estine.
Friends will be received Tuesday, March 31, 2009 from 4 to 8 P.M.and Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 11 to 12 noon at the Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, IN.
Services will be held at Cutler Funeral Home, Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 12 noon with Pastor D.M. Albertin officiating.
Interment will follow in the Patton Cemetery, La Porte.
