Albert J. Hocutt, age 95, of La Porte, passed away on August 4, 2014 at IU Health La Porte Hospital.
Albert was born in West Plains, MO, on July 22, 1919 to Jess A. and Nanny (Knickerbaker) Hocutt.
On January 6, 1940 in La Porte, he married Irene Marie Hocutt, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are his daughter, Janice (Larry) Daniels of La Porte; his son, Donald Hocutt of La Porte; grandchildren, Dawn (Charles) Long, Kristine (Mark) Owens, and Jeffrey Daniels; fifteen great-grandchildren; nephews, Mike (Gail) Hocutt and Randy (Janet) Hocutt; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers; six sisters; granddaughter, Tina Hocutt; and great-grandson, Jr. Colston.
Albert worked at New York Central Railroad, Bass and Morley, and retired from American Home Foods. He was a WWII Veteran with the 11th Airborne. Albert was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 PM, on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Rev. Dr. Joseph Loftis officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at Patton Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 2-3 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
