Alexander Joseph "Joe" Ross, age 52, of La Porte, went home to his Lord and Savior on September 29, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Minneapolis, MN, on January 25, 1962 the son of Marvin and Myra (Windingstad ) Sjobeck.
On March 23, 1985, he married Julie Ann (Lorentzen) Ross who survives in La Porte. Also surviving are his two sons, Jared Alexander Ross of La Porte, Joseph Aaron Ross of La Porte; daughter, Jillian Abigail Ross of La Porte; his parents, Marv and Myra Sjobeck; brothers, Stephen (Rosie) Ross of Noblesville, IN, Michael (Patricia) Ross of Port Orange, FL; father-in-law, Alan (Clara) Lorentzen; mother-in-law, Marlene (Don) Eitreim; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Janelle Robinson; nieces and nephews, Jessica, Jovelyn, Stephanie, Noah, Wyatt, and Kaylin. Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Ross.
Joe worked at MonoSol as a Quality Director. He served his country honorably as a Navy Pilot. Joe enjoyed hunting, boating with his family; going to the beach; coaching soccer and baseball; he was an active member of Door Village United Methodist Church, where he taught the youth Sunday School.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 PM Monday, October 6, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, 1225 Michigan Ave, La Porte with Rev. Chris Tiedeman and Rev. Chris Buresh officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Door Village Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. There will also be a time of visitation from 3 PM until the time of the service on Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Joe's children for their College Funds or to the New Day Foundation, PO Box 13, La Porte, IN 46352 to support cancer patients and their families.
