Alfred Harness, Jr., 88, of Kingsford Heights, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at IU Health La Porte.
Alfred was born in La Porte County, IN, on May 17, 1926 to Alfred and Adeline (Shults) Harness.
On June 2, 1951 in Walkerton he married Virginia Mae Monroe who preceded him in death on March 10, 2012. Surviving are his son, David W. Harness of Kingsford Heights; step-daughter, Judy Rowlett of Bonanza, OR; grandchildren, Andrea Harness of Indianapolis, Kristen and Hayley Harness of Kingsford Heights; great-grandchild, Ellie; three step-grandchildren, Richard Rowlett of Klamath Falls, OR, Bill and A.J. Rowlett of Roy, WA; seven step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and six sisters.
Alfred retired from Modine Manufacturing Company in 1991. He served honorably in the US Army during WWII, and he was a member of the Kingsford Heights Wesleyan Church.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 11, 2015 with Pastor Jerry Goens Officiating at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
A time of visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Sunday, May 10, 2015 and from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Kingsbury Cemetery.
