Alfred Ed Todd, 81, LaPorte, died at 2 a.m. Monday (Jan. 5, 2004) at Fountainview Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. Jeff Hines officiating. Burial is in Patton Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Enfield, Ill., to Clarence and Ellen M. (Logan) Todd. On March 31, 1945, in Benton, Ill., he married Dorothy Darnell, who survives.
Survivors also include three sons, Al (Jan) Todd, Stevensville, Mich., Randy (Andrea) Todd, Terre Haute, Ind., and Bruce (Karen) Todd, LaPorte; one daughter, Joyce (Greg) Swanson, LaPorte; nine grandchildren, Brian, Jason, Brandon, Alex, Aaron and Laurie Todd, Stephanie Brown and Pfc. Kristopher and Kraig Kaczka; four brothers, Lee Todd, Peoria, Ill., Arthur Todd, Washington, Ill., Estle Todd, Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Charles Todd, Morton, Ill.; and one sister, Agnes Sinks, Peoria, Ill.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Gayle Todd; three sisters, Maudie, Mary and Marie; and two brothers, Doug and Raymond.
Mr. Todd worked at Josam Co. in Michigan City for 30 years, retiring in 1984. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Disabled American Veterans. He also was a LaPorte Assembly of God member.
