Alma Juanita Cooper, age 92 , of La Porte, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Miller Health and Rehab.
Alma was born on December 11, 1923 in Lake City, Arkansas to Thomas E. and Lilly P. (Halsey) Brickell.
On July 13, 1940 in Clarkton, MO, she married Charles R. Cooper who preceded her in death. Surviving are her beloved children, Sonja C. Pytynia of La Porte, Robert W. (Barbara) Cooper of Palm Bay, FL, Wendell K. (Norma) Cooper of La Porte, Lindall R. (Sharon) Cooper of Jonesboro, AR, and Karen J. (Daniel) Buss of Rolling Prairie; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents; husband; brothers, Alvis, J.B., and Robert Brickell; sisters, Ina Lamb, Delia J. Hill, Pearl Covington, Thelma Reeves, and Lou Cindy Brickell; as well as one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Alma was retired from Kingsley Furniture. She was a member of La Porte Missionary Church, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 9423 Rolling Prairie, and the United Steel Workers.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 am on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Carl Galloway and Pastor Steve Galloway officiating. Burial will follow at Kingsbury Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 4 - 8 pm on Thursday, April 7, 2016 and from 9 am until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
