Andrew Philip Gielczyk, 20, LaPorte, died at 3:10 p.m. Monday (Dec. 29, 2003) at University of Chicago Children's Hospital.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday at Countryside Christian Church, with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating.
Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, and 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.
Mr. Gielczyk was born March 11, 1983, in Indianapolis to David and Ann (Kamaloski) Gielczyk, who survive in LaPorte.
Survivors also include three brothers, Benjamin D. Gielczyk, Indianapolis, Caleb J. Gielczyk and Mark A. Gielczyk, both of LaPorte; one sister, Hannah E. Gielczyk, LaPorte; paternal grandmother, Janice Gielczyk, Manistee, Mich.; and maternal grandparents Richard and Patricia Kamaloski, Manistee.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Walter Gielczyk; great-grandparents, Mike and Tracy Adamski; and one uncle, Philip J. Gielczyk.
Mr. Gielczyk worked at Michigan City's Holiday Inn and was a Purdue University-North Central student. He was a 2002 graduate of LaPorte High School, where he played the drums and was a member of the boys tennis team. He was a member of Countryside Christian Church. He loved to be outdoors, especially to fish and camp. He also enjoyed cooking for the people he loved.
