Angeline "Angie' Hazel Lewis

January 20, 1935 — July 18, 2023

Angeline "Angie" Hazel Lewis, a loving, kind and faith-filled woman, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Monday, July 18, 2023, at Hamilton Communities in New Carlisle. Born on January 20, 1935, in Chesterton, Indiana, Angie was the daughter of Earl and Laurabell (Walker) Wheeler.

Angie was united in marriage to LeRoy Nathaniel Lewis Jr. on December 5, 1954, in Chesterton. Their union was blessed with three children, LeAnn, Timothy, and Robert. Sadly, LeRoy preceded her in death on July 1, 2018. Angie was also predeceased by her parents and three brothers, Dale, Sterling, and Gordon Wheeler.

Angie was a dedicated worker throughout her life, holding positions at the Chesterton Tribune, Citizens Bank, Shopper's Fair Domestic Department, and File Clerk Corporation until her retirement. Her commitment to her work was only surpassed by her devotion to her family.  Angie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Michigan City.

Angie's passions extended beyond the workplace and home. An animal lover, she had a particular fondness for cats, tigers, and butterflies. An avid photographer, she enjoyed capturing memories and creating photo albums as gifts for her family. Angie was a sports enthusiast who particularly loved watching the Olympics. Her sense of humor was often indulged by watching the television show "Impractical Jokers." She relished the great outdoors, fondly reminiscing about camping trips with her young family and planning excursions out west. Her creative side shone through her crafting endeavors, and she found immense joy playing with her grandchildren.

Surviving Angie are her children, LeAnn (Randy) Miller of Quincy, IL, Timothy (Nicole) Lewis, and Robert (Lisa) Lewis, both of Michigan City. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Sarah (Shaun) Alexander, Stephanie Dickens, Abigail Miller, Taylor Lewis, Justin Lewis, Alison (Jose) Vega, Hanah Lewis, Ryan Lewis, Alexandrea (Cale) Coleman,  Zachary Hogan, Jaymie (Ryan) Baer, and Jacob (Jada) Pliskey; and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Angie's legacy will continue to live on through her loving family and the countless lives she touched.
