Arlene Schultz, 80, of La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at IU Health La Porte Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Arlene was born in Michigan City, IN, on October 3, 1935 to Walter and Marian (Reynolds) Orzech.
On May 23, 1953, she married her husband of 63 years, William Schultz who survives. Also surviving are her beloved children, Rebecca (Clifford) Sheeler of La Porte and William (Darla) Schultz of La Porte; grandchildren, Amanda (Michael) Rose of La Porte, Rachel (Andy) Drake of Hobart, Kevin (Jessica) Sheeler of La Porte, Kristen (T.J.) Reed of Westfield, IN, Jenna Schultz of La Porte, Braylyn and Brock Schultz of La Porte; 3 great-grandchildren, Anna Drake, Benjamin Drake, and Scarlett Jo Reed; brother, James (Corrine) Orzech of Michigan City; and special lifelong friend, Susan Niksch of Westville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Stephanie Schultz; great-granddaughter, Ruby Grace Drake; and her brother, Eugene Orzech.
Arlene enjoyed sharing her love of cooking with her family and friends, gardening, playing cards, going to plays, and knitting. She was an avid camper. Most of all, Arlene loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren who were the light of her life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at St. Peter Catholic Church in La Porte with Father Ian Williams officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of the Mass at the church on Tuesday. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
