Arthur Bowman, 85, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 8:54 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2005 at LaPorte Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Freeman Schrock officiating. Anyone wishing to visit with the family may do so on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Arthur was born May 17, 1920, to Arthur L. & Frances (Jones) Bowman. On August 9, 1946, in LaPorte, he married Betty Osborn, who survives.
Survivors also include son Geoffrey Bowman of LaPorte; daughter Barbara (Dan) Halle of LaPorte; granddaughters Arianne Menon, Amy Balcerak and Lindsey Bowman; and sister Gwen Gracie of LaPorte.
His parents, sister Cleo, and son Arthur Terrance Bowman preceded him in death.
Arthur had spent most of his working years in the field of manufacturing engineering in and around LaPorte. He co-owned LaPorte Christmas Tree Farm with Dick Miller.
He received the Indiana State Charles Deam Forestry Stewardship Award in 2002. He cared for a wooded sanctuary and forest for over 50 years and was a member of Investors Limited and the USTA Club. He was also a US Army veteran of WW II.
