Banford Gus Augustus Kincaid, 96, of 0504 E. CR200 N. LaPorte, passed away early Saturday morning, May 22, 2004 at his home.
He was born May 21, 1908, in Beattysville, KY to Fletcher L. and Leona B. (Spencer) Kincaid. On September 28, 1927, he married Beatrice R. Macauley, who survives.
Also surviving are one granddaughter, Jennifer Adams Langenstein; one grandson, Jeffrey Blake Adams; one great-grandson, Spencer Christian Langenstein; and his loyal dog, Ginger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Betty Jane, 3 sisters, Martha, Nora and Zona and 4 brothers, Leonard, Loyd, Jesse and Alonzo.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the LaPorte Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Gibbs officiating. Friends may call Tuesday at Cutler Funeral Home from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Pine Lake Cemetery.
Mr. Kincaid had worked as a federal prohibition agent in northern Wisconsin and moved to the LaPorte area in 1941 to work as a security specialist at the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant. He was also a flight instructor during WW II for the Civil Air Patrol. During this time he was also a painting contractor. In 1946, he joined Universal Toy & Novelty Company as superintendent of production where he worked for 30 years. He also owned and operated The Maple City Baffle Company until he retired in the early 1990s.
He was a member of the LaPorte Presbyterian Church, Excelsior Lodge 41, Scottish Rite and Order of the Eastern Star LaPorte Chapter 280.
