Barbara Jean McCorkel passed away June 8, 2013 in LaPorte. She was born to Herman and Martha (Lilly) Noel on August 5, 1943 in Lexington, KY. The family moved to La Porte County in 1953. She attended Mill Creek High School where she was a cheerleader. Barbara acquired a Certified Nurses Aid License in La Porte County and was employed at Fountain View Nursing Home for 15 years. She was also employed at the VNA for Hospice caregiving in La Porte County and Stuart, FL.
She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Larry McCorkel; two daughters, Debbie Hazelbaker Riggs and Angie Hazelbaker Conlin; two granddaughters, Nicole Conlin Losiniecki and Leslie Kahn; a great-grandson, Timothy Losiniecki Jr.; brothers, Don, Charles, Bill, Ken, and Larry Noel; sisters, Lucy Mize, Margaret Dial, Bernie Yerby, and Peggy Gladden; a niece, Beverly Dean Jennette; and a son-in-law Randy Conlin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ernest, Herman Jr., & Bob Noel; a sister, Joyce Whilhelm; and a grandson, Billy Kahn.
A private family gathering in Barbara's honor will be held at a later date.
