Barbara Gangwer-Williams, 79, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 4:25 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2005 at LaPorte Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, at Cutler Funeral Home, with Rev. Jeff Zigler officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery at a later date.
Barbara was born September 22, 1925, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to William Earl & Alma (Silverstorff) Bobst. On October 3, 1946, in LaPorte, she married Norman J. Gangwer, who preceded her in death February 15, 1922. Then on October 7, 1999, she marred Harry "Norman" Williams, who preceded her in death March 31, 2001.
She is survived by a son, William D. (Patty) Gangwer of LaPorte; grandchildren Michael "Mike" and Mary-Ellen "Meg" Gangwer and Chris Cullis II; and a great-granddaughter.
Her parents and a sister Juanita Nelson preceded her in death.
Barbara had worked as a legal secretary for attorney Dennis Smith and as an executive secretary for NIPSCO at the Bailey Plant in Portage for many years.
She had attended First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Michigan City Elks Club and the Women's 9 Hole Golf Group. She was a former member of Tri Kappa and played in Bridgearama.
