Barry Wayne Siddall Sr., 68, of La Porte, went to be with his Lord on Monday, July 27, 2015 at his home after a three year battle with cancer.
Barry was born in Michigan City, Indiana, on May 4, 1947 the middle of three boys to Gerald Wayne and Carol Jean (Burkett) Siddall.
On Oct. 23, 1999, in La Porte, he married Sherry Lynn (Swanson Matthews) Siddall who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children, Barry W. (Lorelei) Siddall Jr., Shannon (Todd) Duley, Mary Kate (John) Oatman, Doug Swanson, Ray Swanson, Shelley (Bill) Armour, Steve (Dawn) Matthews, Sue (Ross) Schoff; 10 grandchildren, 4 and 1/2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Glen "Corky" (Pat) Siddall of Michigan City, and Don Lee (Shirley) Siddall of Knoxville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Barry joined the U.S. Army at 17, landing in Vietnam when he was 18, and staying 18 months. He served his country for 11 years and 9 months and was very proud of it. Barry belonged to St. John's Lutheran Church were he held offices as trustee, usher, elder, was a member of the Walther League Chorus, and enjoyed working at St. John's Thrift Shop. Anytime he was called to help he was there. Barry was a hunter, fisherman and above all a bowler, bowling in three leagues last season even after he was told by doctors that he would no longer be able to bowl.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church. A time of visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. Burial will take place following the service at Patton Cemetery.
