Beatrice Kincaid

September 21, 1909 — December 15, 2008

Beatrice R. Kincaid passed on Monday, December 15, 2008 at the Hamilton Grove Community in New Carlisle, IN. She was 99 years old.

Born September 21, 1909 in Crandon, Wisconsin to Thomas McCauley and Margaret Rupp McCauley, she was one of seven children raised in and around the booming timber industry of northern Wisconsin.

In 1927, at the age of eighteen, she wed Banford “Gus” Kincaid to whom she was married for 76 years, until his death in 2004. They had one child, Betty Jane, who predeceased them in 1999.

In 1943, Mrs. Kincaid moved from Wisconsin to Fish Lake, Indiana and began working with her husband at the Kingsbury Ordnance Plant. After moving to La Porte at the end of WWII, she worked for the Universal Toy and Novelty Company on State Street where she retired as Secretary-Treasurer after 29 years in their employ.

Most recently, Mrs. Kincaid partnered with her husband as an owner of the Maple City Baffle Company on Washington Street in La Porte. She was actively involved in running the daily operations of the manufacturing business until they ceased operations in the early 1990’s.

When asked, Bea would state that she was most proud of her career as a children’s Sunday school teacher. She first began teaching in Crandon, Wisconsin in 1925 then continued her mission at the La Porte Presbyterian Church from 1943 through the late 1990’s when her impaired vision became severe.

Mrs. Kincaid was a long time member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine in Michigan City, a member of the La Porte Presbyterian Church and La Porte chapter 280 Order of the Eastern Star where she was a past Worthy Grand Matron and State Grand Representative to Massachusetts.

Her family and friends will miss her remarkably unwavering Christian faith, strong moral values, kind heart, gentle nature and generosity of spirit.

Mrs. Kincaid is survived by her grand daughter, grand son, great grand son and her dog “Ebony”.

A private family service was held at Pine Lake Cemetery with Rev. Kaaren Nesmith officiating.

Cutler Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
