Benjamin J. “Ben” Edwards, Jr., 71, of La Porte, passed away on October 3, 2013 at Avalon Springs Health Campus, Valparaiso, IN.
He was born in La Porte on December 29, 1941 to Benjamin Joseph and Bessie Bernice Wallace Edwards, Sr.
Ben was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of La Porte. He had a passion for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He especially loved being involved in Child Evangelism Ministries.
He is survived by his sister, Bonnie (William) Cromer of Chesterton, IN; 2 brothers, Paul and Dan Smith of La Porte; 2 nieces, Lauri (Richard) Cowsert of Chesterton, and Stacey (John) Korba of Portage, IN; 2 nephews, Bradley (Patti) Decker of Chesterton, and Greg (Regina) Decker of Cicero, IN; 3 great nieces and 4 great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte with Ben's friend Pastor Jeff Williams of Valparaiso officiating. Friends may great the family from 1 -2 PM prior to the service Sunday, at the funeral home.
