Bernadine Izola (McCray) Bishop

Bernadine Izola Bishop, of La Porte, passed away on the 8th day of June, 2019 at the home of her granddaughter, Lisa Pierzakowski.

Bernadine was born on July 22, 1924 in Heyworth, IL, to Benjamin and Vera (Cunningham) McCray.

Surviving are her daughter, Karen (Clif) Snyder of La Porte; 4 grandchildren, Daniel (Regina) Snyder, Lisa (Mike) Pierzakowski, Dawn Maxson, and Kristin Snyder, all of La Porte; 10 great-grandchildren, Cory (Brianna) Snyder of Las Vegas, NV, Joshua Maxson of Killeen, TX, Michael Pierzakowski of La Porte, Nyle Maxson of Killeen, TX, Katerina (Pat) Del Fiacco, of South Elgin, IL, Dylan Snyder of La Porte, Paige (Brandon Moreau)  Pierzakowski of Grand Haven, MI, Ashley Wolff of La Porte, Blake Snyder of La Porte, and Adam Pierzakowski of La Porte; and 3 great, great-grandchildren, Wrigley and Lennox Snyder of Las Vegas, NV, and Macie Del Fiacco of South Elgin, IL.

She was preceded by her parents; brother, Lyle "Bud" McCray; and sisters, Blanche Beebe, Beulah Sippel, Lola Geraldine Bundy, and Patricia Bowers.

Bernadine worked as an upholsterer at Kingsley Furniture for 22 years.  She also worked as a wax injector at Howmet for 16 years before she retired in 1988.

Bernadine enjoyed baking Christmas cookies and fudge, working out at the Swanson Center with friends, attending flea markets and craft shows, and fishing at the cabin in Canada with her siblings.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Roger Ash and Pastor Ryan Shockey officiating.  Burial will follow at Patton Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 4 - 8 pm on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 and from 10 am until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
