Bessie Eva Samford, 76, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday January 20, 2005 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 24 at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Royce Ford officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery.
Bessie was born August 15, 1928, in Canton, Ohio to Robert & Gertrude (Werner) Jeffries. On October 25, 1947, in LaPorte, she married Robert Samford, who survives.
Survivors include daughter Rebecca Cady of LaPorte; sons Robert (Kim) Samford of LaPorte, William (Brenda) Samford of Haskell, TN, Ronald (Dana) Samford of LaPorte and Mark (Kelly) Samford of LaPorte; 13 grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother Franklin Jeffries of Antioch, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Betty Levandoski-Cady, twin sister Jessie Otter and brothers Robert & Kenneth Jeffries.
Bessie was a homemaker. She was also a member of the LaPorte Church of God. She was interested in astrology, garage sales, music, crocheting and bowling.
