Betty Louise Ambrose 81, of LaPorte, IN died November 22, 2008 at her home. She was born August 22, 1927 in Furnessville, IN to the late Hershel A. and Lena “Lanie” Vetterly Furness. In 1969 she married Ray Ambrose who survives.
She is also survived by 1 daughter: Lynn(Michael)Przybylinski-LaPorte. 2 grand daughters: Laurie(Andrew)Schible and Terri Przybylinski. 1 great-grand daughter: Taylor Shoffner and 1 great-grandson: Gavin Schible. 3sisters: Audrey Buss, Rosemary Braginton, and Patricia Smith. 3 Brothers: Donald, Gordon, and Loren Furness. Betty was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Lois E. Johnson and Dorothy R. Dunn and 1 brother: Lester H. Furness.
Mrs. Ambrose was a member of the Porter County Farm Bureau Assoc., was an avid gardener, loved animals and especially horses and dogs. She drove a school bus for Pine Township Schools for many years and retired as a cook from Miller’s Merry Manor in New Carlisle. Betty and Ray started Bumble Bee liquor store in Beverly Shore in 1972.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 2P.M. Saturday, November 29, 2008 at St. Luke United Lutheran Church in Michigan City. There will be a time of visitation from 3-7 P.M. on Friday, November 28 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Furnessville Cemetery in Furnessville, IN following the service.
