Beulah Fern (Purgin) Morris

Beulah Fern Morris, 97, of La Porte, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Miller Health and Rehab.

Beulah was born on April 5, 1925 in Benham, KY, to Dewey and Sarah (Cleaver) Purgin.  She was lovingly raised by her foster parents, Luther and Mae Price.

On July 30, 1947 in Harlan City, KY, she married James Walker Morris who preceded her in death.  Surviving Beulah are her children, Leslie Wayne (Denise) Morris of Reno, NV and daughter, Belinda (Marshall) Schnick of La Porte; 6 grandchildren, Shane (Kandi) Hale, Jeff (Christine) Morris, Matt (Alissa) Schnick, Craig (Jessica) Schnick, Meredith (Steven) Torrence, and Amy (Nate) Hallet; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 more expected in 2023; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and her special friend Betty Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents; husband of 58 years; son, Stanley Delane Morris; sisters, Gaynelle (Elmer) Pinkerton and Faye (Shelby) Howard; and brother, Stanley Price.

Beulah was an assembler for many years at Sprague Devices, where she retired.  She enjoyed her church, cooking, canning, and shopping.  Beulah dearly loved having her great-grandchildren visit.

Beulah proudly worked as a  Rosie the Riviter in Baltimore, MD, during the war.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Chaplain Melissa “Missy” Buche  officiating.  Burial will follow at Carmel Cemetery, La Porte.

A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Beulah's family wishes to thank all her caregivers at Miller Health and Rehab and Dunes Hospice for their wonderful, loving care provided to Beulah.
