Billy Joe Benge, 62, of Michigan City, Indiana, died at 1:32 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2005 at LaPorte Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 13, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. David Hill officiating. Visitation is Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.
Billy was born February 27, 1942 in Morley, Tennessee to Claude and Ella (Harmon) Benge. In 1962, in North Carolina, he married Geraldine Kaiser, who survives.
Survivors also include son Scott (Amy) Benge of Olive Springs, TN; daughter Pamela (Craig) Albers of Westville, IN; grandchildren Nina & Cody Newenhouse and Cade & Nicole Albers; sisters Opal Lambdin and Margie Meredith, both of LaFollette, TN and Ruth Schooler and Delphine Hornnocker, both of Indianapolis, IN; brother Robert Benge of LaFollette, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Edgar Benge and sisters Hazel Baca and Mildred Martin.
Billy had worked for American Home Foods, Teledyne and Howmet Corporation. He had retired from Howmet in April of 2004 after 20 years of service. He was also a member of the LaPorte Calvary Baptist Church.
