Billy Mullins

Billy Clay Mullins, 86, of La Porte, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Settlers House.

Billy was born in Dunham, KY, on March 25, 1930 to Willard and Healthie (Rose) Mullins.

On June 3, 1955, he married Celia A. (Walter) Mullins who preceded him in death. Surviving are his son, Dale Mullins of La Porte, IN; and his daughters, Susan Riddle of Lakeville, IN and Carol Shook of Muncie, IN. Billy also has five grandchildren, Timothy and Heather Riddle of Lakeville, IN and Logan, Carrigan, and Zaydan Shook of Muncie, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Elizabeth Mullins, Jacquelyn Scott, and Lottie Freeze; and son, Ronald Dean Mullins.

Billy served as a Corporal in the United States Army. He served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Billy's younger life was spent working as either a mechanic, OTR Driver, Maintenance at Plastic Service, American Home Foods, and at one time he owned his own gas station and raced a "57" Chevy to provide for his family of six. Billy enjoyed sports, especially NASCAR, and liked to fish and tinker in his garage when he was able.

We would like to thank all of the staff at Settlers Place for the wonderful care and relationships that were built throughout Billy's stay. Also, a special thank you to Great Lakes Caring Hospice. The support and care given was educational and supportive during such a trying life experience.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Roger Ash officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
