A private family service will be held to celebrate Jack's life. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and Cutler Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Bina Jack Allen, 83, of La Porte, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at La Porte Hospital.
He was born Mar. 28, 1925, to Bina Boston and Flora (Mencer) Allen.
Mr. Allen was a retired school teacher and had taught in New Carlisle, Rolling Prairie and La Porte Community Schools. He was a 1943 graduate of La Porte High School and he received his bachelor's degree from Ball State University and a master's degree from Valparaiso University. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and past commander and member of the American Legion Post 83 in La Porte. He was also a member of the Senior Men's Golf Club at Legacy Hills, La Porte.
On Sept. 6, 1947, in La Porte, he married Patricia Barker, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Judith (Thomas) Richards of St. Joseph, Mich., and Laura L. of La Porte; one son, Bina Patrick (Barbara) of New Carlisle; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
