Bobby G. Hughes, 82, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 at his residence.
Bobby was born on August 3, 1937 in Harriman, TN, to Lee and Maude (Nelson) Hughes.
On June 20, 1958 in Kingsbury, he married Joy Hammons who survives. Also surviving are his children, Paul E. (Connie) Hughes of Kokomo, Phillip Hughes of Portage, and Jean (Randy) Whiteman of South Bend; 4 grandchildren, Chrystal Hughes of Portage, Coldean Brooks of Valparaiso, Corbin Cains of Buchanan, MI, Danael (Jay) Knowlton of Buchanan, MI and Joe and Carla of Kokomo; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Margaret (Charles) Hughes of La Porte, Frances Janikowski of MN, Brenda Pagan of CT, Treva (Dillard) Lawson of Mill Creek, Clifford (Sue) Hughes of New Carlisle, and Don (Robin) Hughes of La Porte; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Edgar Hughes, Elbert Hughes, Art Hughes, Alford Hughes, Jerry Hughes, Hoyle Hughes, Jackie Hughes, and Vida Hughes .
Bobby was a laborer for many years at American Rubber. He was a previous owner-operator of La Porte Town Tavern, established in 1985, in La Porte. Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Bobby enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing cards. He also enjoyed watching westerns and sports. Bobby was quick witted and had a great sense of humor.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A private family service will take place at a later date.
