Carla Preston

Carla May Preston, 75, of Walkerton, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Center for Hospice Care, Inc.

Carla was born on October 11, 1949, in La Porte, IN, to Morris and Byrdie Searfoss.

On July 19, 1968, in Plymouth, IN, she married Jack N. Preston who preceded her in death. Surviving are her 2 children, Jack (Kelly) Preston, II, of North Liberty and Susan (Shawn) Allen of Walkerton; 10 grandchildren, Clayton Chitwood, Hayley (Nathan) Day, Tiffany (Rachael) Basurto, Zachary Cobern, Devon Fant, Machayla Allen, Chelsea (Austin) O'Connor, Dakota (Grace) Allen, Collin Smalley, and Lucas (Alexis) Cobern; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Lora (Mike) McMillen, Janet (Dave) Cook, and Brenda (Walter) Calhoon, all of Plymouth; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Lisa Meck; 2 sisters; and 1 brother.

In her youth, Carla enjoyed playing softball and baseball. She spent many years working as a supervisor at Polygon. Carla enjoyed visiting garage sales, tending to her dogs, and spending time with her family, whom she dearly loved. She freely gave of herself, helping friends who were unable to drive. Carla will be fondly remembered for the selfless generosity she showed to friends and family. She was a truly devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering will be held from 12 - 4 p.m. (ET) on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Tyner I.O.O.F. Lodge, 18260 4B Road, Walkerton, IN.
