Charles W. Marshall, 79, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 4:37 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2005 at LaPorte Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2005 at Cutler Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be held at a later time.
Charles was born June 25, 1925, in LaPorte to the late Charles & Florence Ruth (Matthews) Marshall. On June 28, 1952, he married Lois Snyder, who preceded him in death December 1, 1971.
Survivors include son Cristopher W. (Caroline) Marshall of LaPorte; daughter Lyn Marshall of Flagstaff, AZ; grandchildren Clay W., Clair E., & Lesley M. Marshall and Haley Hutton; and sister Elizabeth Sutherland of Blanchard, MI.
Charles had owned Marshall Jewelry Store from November 28, 1947, retiring in 1990. He was a 1943 LaPorte High School graduate. He started the Charles Marshall Orchestra in High School and played for many school functions. He served in the US Navy during WW II. He attended Elgin Watch and Jewelry from 1945-1946 and graduated in watch and jewelry making. He graduated from Gemology School in Indianapolis in 1947. He was a member of Excelsior Lodge #41 F & AM for 58 years and a former member of the LaPorte Elks Club.
