Charles Edward Minnick, 70 years old, of La Porte, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Charles was born on December 29, 1946 in Chicago, IL, to Charles and Helen (Piest) Minnick.
On February 25, 1971, he married Linda (Alban) who survives in La Porte. Also surviving are his beloved children, Charles (Guyla) Minnick of La Porte, Lori (William) Cochrane of Elkhart, Lesley (Brian) Lich of Monroe, WA., Craig (Melissa) Minnick of La Porte, sister; Marleen (Richard) Ray of North Port, FL; 15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson; and the Alban family who has embraced Chuck with love for over 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Charles worked as a Police Officer for 20 years with the La Porte City Police Department and as a USPS Postal Worker for 17 years in Michigan City. Charles served honorably as a Corporal in the US Marine Corps and received a Purple Heart along with several other honors. He loved golfing, fishing, bowling and camping with his best friend Greg Arndt.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 am (CST) on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Burial with full military honors will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 4pm - 7pm (CST) on Friday, November 24, 2017 and from 10 AM until the time of the service on Saturday at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
