Charles H. Wilson, 71, of La Porte, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at his home.
Charles was born in Chesterton, IN, on March 5, 1948 to Everett Edward and Dorothy Gladys (Striker) Wilson.
On December 23, 1983 in Greenfield, Ohio, he married Betty Benson who survives. Also surviving are his 5 children, Earl (Kendall) Wilson, Desiree' (Victor) Splix, and Troy Wilson, all of La Porte, James Richardson of Rantoul, Illinois and Amanda Baker of Bountiful, Utah; 8 grandchildren, Leah Wilson, Madix Splix, Levi Wilson, Jace Wilson, Stella Splix, Abaddon Wilson, Slade Wilson, and Wade Wilson; 2 brothers, John (Jane) Wilson of Michigan City and Edward (Theresa) Wilson of Illinois; 3 sisters, Joyce (David) Richardson of Illinois, Chris (James) Wheatfield of Indiana, and Sally (David) Brown of Illinois; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Earl Wilson and Benjamin Wilson; and 3 sisters, Susan Wozniak, Gladys Richardson, and Frances Wilson.
Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He later was a foreman for many years at Bethlehem and US Steel Mills. Charles was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards. Charles found great joy in watching his children and grandchildren play various sports.
A time of visitation will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Full Military Honors will follow the visitation at 4 p.m.
Cremation will take place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, following the services.
