Chet Holdson, 78, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at LaPorte Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, at the LaPorte Presbyterian Church with Rev. Louis Schumm officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Cutler Funeral Home and at the church on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.
Chet was born October 6, 1927, in Sullivan Co., Indiana to Otha & Zoie (Robinson) Holdson. He married Betty Rose Engle in 1945. In 1977, in LaPorte, he married Mary Louise Dix, who survives.
Also surviving are daughters Caren (David) Herald of Anderson, IN, Cathy McDonald of Budd Lake, NJ, Saralyn Locke of Schaumburg, IL, Lisa Locke (Carter) Elenz of Long Beach, IN, and Laura Locke (Ken) Hill of Lincoln, NE; sons Gary Locke and Brett (Sue) Locke of LaPorte; 10 grandchildren and 11 Great-grandchildren.
His parents, a sister and a brother preceded him in death.
Chet had worked for over 29 years at Teledyne Casting Service, retiring in 1991. He graduated from Sullivan High School in 1945. He was a WW II Navy veteran, stationed in Hawaii and Okinawa. He also attended the LaPorte Presbyterian Church.
Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
