Clarence "Sonny" Earl Green, Jr., age 76, of La Porte, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Clarence was born in La Porte, IN, on June 27, 1938 to Clarence Earl and Bessie (Hitesman) Green, Sr.
On October 22, 1966, he married Sharon Burkhart who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children, Thomas Burger (Monica Prather) of La Porte, Duane (Michelle) Burger of North Carolina, Gina Collings (Chuck Nightingale) of Hamlet, IN, Jennifer (Ed) Hynek of La Porte;15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Tom Burkhart of La Porte, Don Tarnow of South Bend; sister-in-law, Sandy Burkhart of La Porte; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Green; brother, Charles Disbrow; sisters, Marie Tarnow, Cleo Maitland, and Carol Arthur.
Sonny was a member of the Elks Lodge #492 and Maple City Motorcycle Club. He attended La Porte Missionary Church and was a past coach and director of the Hoosier Boys Club in Kingsford Heights. He served honorably in the US Army and retired from Aero Metals in La Porte.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Carl Galloway officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 and also from 10 AM until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
