Clement Elshout, who was born Dec. 21, 1919, died April 8, 2015.
He was married for 69 years to Yvonne Linden Elshout, who preceded him in death on May 14, 2014.
He was devoted husband, father to Jane, Laurie, Karen and David, grandfather to Zachary Ebeling, Joshua Matthews, Schuyler and Jimmy Whiteley and great-grandfather to Nora Ebeling.
He was born in La Porte, raised in Toronto, Ontario, a graduate of University of Toronto and Toronto Medical School. He served in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corp from 1940-45, then relocated to La Porte, Indiana, with his family to start his medical practice in 1947.
He went on to receive his Anesthesia residency from University of Michigan in 1965, returning to La Porte in 1968 to practice anesthesiology and retiring in 1986. Clement Elshout enjoyed a full life, traveling extensively with Yvonne, an avid sailor his whole life, and enjoyed their many friends of La Porte.
A memorial service will be held at La Porte Presbyterian Church on May 9, with visitation at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m. Luncheon to follow ceremony. Friends and family are welcome to join in the celebration of his life.
