Darlene June Jaycox, 81, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at home, surrounded by her loving children, extended family and friends.
She was preceded by her loving husband, B. Raymond Jaycox, on December 24, 2009, who was a beloved 4th grade teacher at Crichfield Elementary School. She is survived by two daughters, Miriam (Marc) Nard of Lake Zurich, IL, and Esther (Eric) Harrison of Terre Haute; two sons, Nathan (Lynn) Jaycox of East Hampton, CT, and Timothy (Melinda) Jaycox of La Porte; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great-granddaughter.
She was preceded by her mother, Ollie (Fegley) Lahmon of Delaware, OH; father, Dalton Williams, Sr. of Lawndale, CA; her brother, Richard "Dick" Williams; stepsister, Betty Williams; and half brother, Larry Lahmon. In addition, she is survived by her stepbrothers, Chuck Williams and Dalton Williams, Jr.
Darlene was born on August 24, 1937, graduated from Willis High School in Delaware, OH in 1956, attended Marion College, and married Bernard Raymond Jaycox on August 10, 1956 in Delaware, OH. She was a lifelong homemaker, a vocation she enjoyed immensely, and as a devout follower of Jesus Christ, she enjoyed reading the Bible and also had her favorite life verses: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." (1 Timothy 2:5); "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9) and "Not unto us, O Lord, Not unto us, but unto thy name give glory,..." (Psalm 115:1a).
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 6 pm (CT) on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 2900 Monroe Street, La Porte. Pastor Mark Smith will be officiating. A private burial will be held prior to the service for immediate family.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 4 - 6 pm (CT) on Friday at the funeral home.
