Darrel Gene Banic, 68 of LaPorte, IN passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010.
Darrel was born on May 21, 1941 in LaPorte, IN to the late Martin and Doris (Rosenbaum) Banic who preceded him in death. Also, preceding him in death were a brother; Claron and sister; Luane.
On June 3, 1961, he joined Bonny Sue (Kegebein) Banic, who survives, in marriage at St. Johns Lutheran Church. Also surviving are their children; Gary (Mindy) Banic of Valparaiso, IN., Randy (Jennifer) Banic DDS. of LaPorte, IN., and Shelly (Glenn) Jones of LaPorte, IN., eight grandchildren; Danyelle, Amanda and Mathew Jones, Ryan Brittany, and Holly Banic, Andrew
(Katie) Bernacchi and Alexis Bernacchi; and five great grandchildren, Maxon, Kayden, Koltyn, Kolby and Myah. His brother; Arlen (Carol) Banic also survives.
Darrel graduated from Hanna High School in 1959. He was a member of Plumber's Local 433 and Bethany Lutheran Church. Darrel was an avid Indiana University and Chicago White Sox fan. He also had passion for gardening.
Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
