Dave Hakes, 67, of Kingsbury, Indiana, died at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the Fish Lake American Legion with Rev. Dan McDonald officiating. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place.
Dave was born November 8, 1938, in LaPorte to Ranson & Lucille (Holloway) Hakes. On June 29, 1957, in LaPorte, he married Margaret Midlar, who survives.
Survivors also include daughters Deborah (John) Nightengale of Kingsford Heights, IN, Sharon (Carl) Cooley of LaPorte, Christine Freese of Las Vegas, NV, Rebecca (Bill) Norton of Mill Creek, IN and Julie Hakes of Kingsbury; sons Brian (Jeff Keller) Hakes of LaPorte, Michael (Donna) Hakes of Hamlet, IN and Timothy (Melissa) Hakes of Petal, MS; sisters Edna (Russell) McCullough, Ruth Williamson and Josephine Mitchel, all of LaPorte; brother Joe (Melody) Hakes of LaPorte; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, brother Phillip Hakes and sister Charlotte Lloyd preceded him in death.
Dave was a self-employed retired carpenter, owning Dave's Home Repair and he was a member of the LaPorte First Church of the Nazarene.
