David L. Hastings

David L. Hastings, 86, of Rolling Prairie, suddenly passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023.

He was born on April 11, 1937 in La Porte, IN, to Archie and Guelah (Jones) Hastings.

David proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.  After his service, he attended Greer Technical Institute, in Chicago, IL, where he obtained his Mechanical Certificate.  He retired from General Telephone Company, La Porte School Corporation, and Paladin Inc.

On May 9, 1959, he married his long time sweetheart, Kathryn Badgley.  David and Kathryn recently celebrated their 64th anniversary.

David served his community as a Special Deputy. His hobbies included camping, woodworking, yard work, classic cars, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. David had a deep love for his family and wife. He was a very hardworking and selfless man, who will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; daughters, Cheryl (Roger) Gostnell, Lori Hastings, and Debra (Jeff) Keldsen; grandchildren, Kenneth (Kerrie) Wolford, Kristopher Wolford, Abagayle (Anthony) McKinney, Samuel Keldsen, and Savanah Keldsen; great-granddaughter, Audrina McKinney; as well as several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers, and sisters.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.  A private service, for immediate family only, will take place at a later date.
