David Willard Henning, age 66, of La Porte, passed away on February 15, 2014 at IU Health LaPorte Hospital. He was born in La Porte, IN, on August 22, 1947 to Willard and Yolanda (Tennis) Henning. On April 17, 1970 he married Marcia Gray Henning who survives.
Also surviving are his beloved children, Jan-Michael Henning and Tara Cunningham both of La Porte; three grandchildren, Danielle Henning, Christian Cunningham and Corey Cunningham all of La Porte, IN; three siblings, Michael (Becky) Henning of Rolling Praire, IN, Dixie (Jim) Paul and Diane Makina both of La Porte, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
David served his country honorably in the united States Army during Vietnam. He went on to own and operated with his wife The Natural Life health food store in La Porte for over 34 years . He was extremely active and thoroughly enjoyed playing sports, especially with his grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7 PM on Wednesday February 19, 2014 at La Porte Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1480 Boyd Blvd, La Porte, IN 46350. Pastor Andre "Bill" Payne will officiate. A graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mill Creek, IN on Thursday February 20, 2014 at 11 AM. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 6-7 PM prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorial Contributions may be directed to La Porte Seventh-day Adventist Church.
