David Jonas, 61 years old of La Porte, IN, died Monday, May 25, 2009 in LaPorte Hospital .
He was born Wednesday, May 12, 1948 in LaPorte, IN., Son of the late Benjamin and Marcella L. (Purkal) Jonas.
He was a member of VFW Post 1130 where he was a life member, American Legion Post 83, DAV, he served in the US Army in Vietnam where he recieved a Purple Heart, Bronze Stars, he served for many years on the LaPorte Honor Guard and participated in many Veteran ceremonies. He was a 1966 graduate of LaPorte High School and from Purdue University.
Surviving are his wife; Ethel, step children; Brian Marvel of LaPorte and Wendy Marvel of Davenport, FL, brothers; James of LaPorte, Jeffrey of Hartland, WI., Richard of Jacksonville, FL., and sister; Jean Schroeder of Littleton, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later time. Service times will be announced at a later time.
