David Lee Long Sr., 58, LaPorte, died of natural causes at 10:12 a.m. Monday (June 9, 2003) at LaPorte Hospital.
A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte, with the Rev. Ted Nordquist officiating. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery with full military rites.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place.
He was born Nov. 18, 1944, in Logansport, Ind., to George D. and Thelma (Parrish) Long.
Survivors include one son, David Long Jr., LaPorte; one daughter, Jenny Janell Long, LaPorte; one grandson, Kadan Long, LaPorte; his fiancee Helen E. Neary, LaPorte; and several brothers and sisters.
Also preceding Mr. Long in death was one son, Shannon Long.
Mr. Long worked at Teledyne Castings for many years. He was a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. He was an avid baseball fan, especially for the Chicago White Sox.
