Private family services were held for David D. Osborn, 89, who died Monday, June 1, 2015 at
IU Health La Porte Hospital. David was born February 7, 1926 to Kenneth D. and Rachel
(Martin) Osborn, and was a lifelong resident of La Porte. He was preceded in death by his
parents and brothers, Kenneth Jr., William and Thamas.
On September 21, 1957 in Ann Arbor, MI, he married Caryl Ann Stuhrberg, who survives along
with daughter, Rebecca (Tom) Larson of La Porte; son, D. Drummond (Suzanne) Osborn II of La Porte; and grandchildren, Matthew (Maggie) Larson of Minneapolis, MN, Gregory (Kylie) Larson of Chicago, IL, Michael (Kelsey) Osborn of Indianapolis, IN, and Rachel and Emily Osborn of La Porte.
David served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He served his community as an
officer or director for the La Porte Kiwanis Club, La Porte Jaycees, Pine Lake Cemetery
Board of Trustees, La Porte Family YMCA, National Junior Chamber of Commerce, Ruth C.
Sabin Home Board of Trustees, Meals on Wheels, Unity Foundation and was a founding
member of the La Porte County Mental Health Association. A graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, David practiced law until his retirement in 2010. David was a longtime member of the La Porte County Election Board and the La Porte Presbyterian Church and, along with his son, was a proud member of Chi Psi Fraternity.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the La Porte YMCA, La Porte Hospital
Foundation, La Porte Kiwanis Club or to any community organization of the donor’s choice.
