David George Potter, son of George and Elsie (Bailey) Potter, was born in Orange, New Jersey, on October 14, 1948, and departed this life on March 24, 2024, at the age of 75.
He is survived by his two children, Ariane (TK) Durham of Springhill, Tennessee, Joel (Becca) Potter of Norwich, Kansas; four grandchildren, Zane Durham, Sela, Emeth, and Jotham Potter; his sister, Sallie (Ray) Anderson; his nephews and niece, Michael (Michelle) Potter, Matthew (Shannon) Lewis, Ryan (Jackie) Anderson, and Lexie (Casey) Frazier; and two great-nephews, Jeffrey and Lucas Potter. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jeff (Mary) Potter.
Dave graduated from Livingston High School in 1966. He was a talented pole vaulter and track athlete, as well as an excellent student. He also enjoyed playing the banjo. Dave and Lori (Staup) started their life together in 1973 and were married for 18 years. In 1976, he graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma; after which he worked on airplanes at La Porte Municipal Airport throughout his lifetime. After obtaining his pilot's license, even before his driver's license, Dave enjoyed years of flying and taking trips. He began work at Aero Metals as a mechanic in 1990 and retired in 2015 after 25 years.
Dave spent most of his adult life in La Porte, Indiana where he had valuable friendships at Falcons, and throughout the La Porte community. He loved his children and grandchildren and was very proud of all of them.
