David J. Tastet, Sr., 51, LaPorte, died of natural causes at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 18, 2003) at Countryside Place Nursing Home, LaPorte.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Community AME Church, LaPorte. Burial will be in Mount Mariah Cemetery, Sixth Ward, La. There will be no visitation. Cutler Funeral Home handled arrangements.
He was born Aug. 21, 1952, in New Orleans to Hubert J. and Elizabeth (Crochet) Tastet Sr., who preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Shanna Laynne Tastet, Louisiana, and Lisa Ann Tastet, Mississippi; two sons, David J. Tastet, Jr. and Donald Dewayne Tastet, both of Mississippi; three brothers, Hubert J. Tastet Jr., Reno, Nev., Lennard J. Tastet, Hammond, La., and Randall J. Tastet, LaPorte; one sister, Debra T. Tastet-Brabant, LaPorte; and four grandchildren.
Also preceding Mr. Tastet in death were three children, Eugene, Dana and Troy.
Mr. Tastet was a certified welder.
