Dennis Kovalcin, 67 years old of LaPorte, IN, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at I.U. LaPorte Hospital.
He was born on April 30, 1944 in Chicago, IL.
He was married on December 13, 1975 in Station, CA to Barbara Fenstermaker who survives. In 1983 he moved back to LaPorte, he and Barbara raised a very loving family. He worked at Scotts Forsmen, Painters Union and retired from Rose Brothers and Sons. Dennis was a true Yankee Baseball fan. He loved trains, football, drag racing, travel and drawing. He loved the outdoors and playing with the kids. His children and grandchildren were his life.
Surviving are his wife: Barbara Kovalcin of LaPorte; daughters: Staci Kovalcin, Diamond Kovalcin; son: Francis (Nicole) Kovalcin; grandchildren: Kyle Ault, Luke, Mason & Bryce Kovalcin, Devan Esmeyer; sister: Betty (Marvin) Baiter of Alsip, IL; brother: Gerry (Addie) Zuzock of Rolling Prairie; sister-in-law: Judy Maslanka of Worth, IL; brother-in-law: Terry (Lana) Fenstermaker; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Dennis Kovalcin, Jr.; brother: Rich Maslanka; and his father and mother-in-law: Frank & Jean Fenstermaker.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Cutler Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
There will be a time of visitation from 4-8 PM on Monday, January 16, 2012 and from 9-10 AM on Tuesday at the Cutler Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
