Derek P. Warfel, 25, of La Porte, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at IU Health La Porte Hospital. He had been battling Leukemia since January of this year.
Derek was born in La Porte, IN, on March 1, 1991 to Mike and Karen (Lowery) Warfel.
Surviving are his loving parents, Mike and Karen Warfel of Mill Creek, IN; a brother, Christopher (Finance' Stefani Albertson) Warfel of La Porte, IN; two nieces, Lilly and Jazzilyn Warfel; grandparents, Roberta Galloway, and Bud and Polly Warfel; along with his girlfriend, Drahcir Hoke. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Forest Lowery.

Derek worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart in La Porte. He enjoyed reading, music, and video games.
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 5 PM on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with John Haferkamp officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 3 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
