Dolores Yergler, 82, of Hanna, Indiana, passed away at 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at LaPorte Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, January 15, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Smith officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00-4:0 p.m. and on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Hanna Cemetery.
Dolores was born June 27, 1924, in Michigantown, IN to the late Thurman & Blanche (Mann) Whitcomb. On April 11, 1942, in Valparaiso, IN, she married Willard J. Yergler, who preceded her in death May 5, 1998.
Survivors include sons Willard G. (Pattie) Yergler of Bremen, IN, Raymond L, (Donna) Yergler of Ankeny, IA and Kenneth W. (Janis) Yergler of Wheatland, WY; daughters Kathryn A. Lyons of Scottsdale, AZ, Marilyn S. (Steve) Tyree of Grand Rapids, MI and Diane R. (Rick) Couch of Indianapolis, IN; 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, Kitty Witty.
Sisters Margaret Baird, Evelyn Duckworth, and Joanna Stolpe, brothers Gordon, John & David Whitcomb and granddaughter Laura Pfeiffle preceded her in death.
Dolores was a life-long homemaker. She was a member and president of the Prairie Twp. Farm Bureau, a member of the LaPorte County Farm Bureau Inc. Board of Directors, the Merry Prairie Club, the LaCrosse Homemakers Club, and former president of the LaPorte DAR. She was active in the Republican Party, served as 4-H leader for the Hanna Cloverettes, and was a former member of the LaPorte 40 and Over Dance Club. She and her husband hosted numerous foreign exchange students through Lions International, and attended many Elder Hostels.
