Donald "Chip" Braund Carlson Jr., 75, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, peacefully in his home with his wife and son by his side after a brave battle with cancer.
Donald was born on February 17, 1949, in Grove City, Pennsylvania, to Donald B. and Jeanne L. (Wolfe) Carlson, Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Yvonne (Bernier) Carlson; ex-wife, Sue (Tony) Carlson; daughter, Nichole (Joel) Mortimer; son, Jonathan Carlson; grandchildren, Michaela Mortimer, Joel (Buddy) Mortimer, Jason Rice, Hunter Smith, and Logan Carlson; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Debbie (Bill) Rounds and Carolyn (Ken) Zintak; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Don graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School and attended Grove City College where he majored in Metallurgical Engineering. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Michigan City where he played on the church softball team, basketball team and was also a deacon. Don was an award-winning manager at JCPenney for 20 years and then a manager at the Meijer in Michigan City for 10 years. He enjoyed sports, golfing, gardening, and traveling with his beautiful bride.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
A time of visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place following the service.
