Donald E. Webb, 83, Union Mills, died at 8:10 p.m. EST Saturday (Nov. 22, 2003) at Elkhart Rehabilitation Center, Elkhart, Ind.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. Bob Clevenger officiating. Burial is in Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox, Ind., where full military rites will be conducted. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Webb was born March 30, 1920, to Henry and Nellie (Shimer) Webb. On Nov. 20, 1943, he married Arlene Hopper, who died Nov. 3, 2000
Survivors include two daughters, Loretta (John) Howard, Amboy, Ind., and Donna (Roy) Horne, Hanna; six grandchildren, Tamela, David and Doug Horne, Cheryl Barney, Donald Howard and Staff Sgt. Michael Howard; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ellen Hemerk, Thomasville, N.C.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Erna Long, Vera Warner, Annie Allen and Hazel Skinner; and three brothers, Vernon, Samuel and Russell Webb; and one infant son, Carl Webb.
Mr. Webb retired as a machine operator after 39 years with CSX. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran who received an Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with bonze star. He was a member of Kingsford Heights Wesleyan Church and had a degree in radio and television electronics.
