Donna J. Cranmer

Donna J. Cranmer, age 87, of Elkhart, Indiana passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025 in at the Center for Hospice Esther’s House in Elkhart. She was born on May 29, 1937 in Elkhart and was the daughter of Maurice Longenecker, DDS and Frances (Mahin) Longenecker. On August 14, 1955, she married Harold Cranmer in Elkhart. 

 She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Harold Cranmer of Elkhart; their children, Robert Cranmer of Elkhart and Julie (Husband, Stephen) Plaia; and two grandchildren, Chad (Ellen) Plaia of McMinnville, Oregon and Jared (Kelsey) Plaia of Granger, Indiana. 

 She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Scott Michael, and son, Steven Charles Cranmer in 2009. 

 Donna worked as a dental assistant at her father’s dental practice for over 20 years and was very active in The Girl Scouts where served as a leader for many years. She was also a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elkhart where she sang in the choir. Donna and Harold spent many summers at Birch Lake and Donna was always involved in any Birch Lake activity. Donna was an excellent grandma and loved to dote on her grandchildren. 

In keeping with her wishes, no public visitation or services are planned. Cremation will take place with Cutler Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
