Donna "Ruth" McCarty, 84, of LaPorte, passed away July 28, 2016. Ruth was born in Hamlet to Donald and Audrey Vance.
In 1952, she married Donald "Don" J. McCarty.
As a young girl 4H was her passion. She graduated from Kingsbury High School in 1950. After graduation, she worked at Allis Chalmers as a purchaser for 8 years and New York Blower as a secretary for 5 years. Prior to retiring in 1994, she worked at Roll Coater as a personal secretary.
She enjoyed crafting with her husband (Don), cooking, sewing, gardening and most of all, her grandchildren. Spending time with her friends meant a lot to her. Door Village Methodist Church is where she attended church and was a member of the U.M.W.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 64 years, Donald J. McCarty; son, Chris McCarty (Cheryl McCarty) of FL; daughter, Nancy Massing (Dr. Bruce Massing) of Cincinnati, OH; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Siblings include Paul Vance (Jo Vance) and the late Mary Tonagal and Donald Vance, Jr.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at Kingsbury Cemetery on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 2 PM. Refreshments will be served at Door Village Methodist Church following the ceremony. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Memorial Contributions may be donated to Door Village Methodist Church, 3502 West Joliet Road, La Porte, IN 46350.
