Doris Bowers, 79, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 12:05 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at Fountainview Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26 at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Ohime officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Burial will be in Door Village Cemetery.
Doris was born January 22, 1927, in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Ray and Ruby (Wild) Irons. On June 22, 1957, in Michigan City she married Norman C. Bowers who preceded her in death November 12, 1989.
Survivors include daughters Carla J. (Mitch) Marhanka and Penny S. Bowers, both of LaPorte; granddaughters Lauren and Jordan Marhanka; and brothers Ray (Joanne) Irons of LaPorte and Jim (Kathy) Irons of Michigan City.
Doris was a homemaker but at one time had also worked for the South Shore. She was a member of the LaPorte First Baptist Church, the Jolly Janes Home Extension Club and the Scipio Township Farm Bureau.
Doris was a very gentle and kind woman and she will be missed.
